/ About me

My name is Marek Ďuriš. Until the year 2016, I worked as a freelancer in advertising, mainly as an idea maker for smaller companies. In 2016, my friend and I opened the first VR game room in Central Europe, Virtualnirealita.cz, where I gathered experience with VR hardware and software.
In 2019, I became a game designer and started to develop VR games, mainly as a commission for companies such as Imperial Tobacco, Siemens, EXE, the CBRE Meeting of the Year competition and Imperia. As a consultant, I helped with the development of VR solutions at UMPRUM at the GDVK department and for Deloitte. I also collaborated on several smaller VR projects for individuals and universities. Moreover, I was the only person to record interviews with VR game and app developers on the VRUP show.
Around the year 2020, due to the coronavirus epidemic, I had to stop running a VR game room and instead started working on motion design, graphic design and video editing, as well as creating websites as a side job. Among my clients were companies such as Remax, Decathlon, Molotow, HS Electro, DJ Friky, the Association of Theatre studies or the Municipal Library in Prague. I primarily focused on creating logo animations, more complex motion design and video editing. I learned how to work with most Adobe programs, such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Audition and Substance 3D Modeler.

In 2022, I joined the Municipal Library in Prague, where I led the development of the VR game Visio Librum, which is based on the history of the library. I worked as the main designer, screenwriter, level designer and project manager of the entire project. I also edited the game in the Unity engine, thanks to which I learned the basics of using Unity. I created the game’s logo and was responsible for the visual style and most of the animations. Furthermore, I developed a concept for the use of VR for the library, introduced VR as a regular service and selected all the hardware and software that the library uses. As part of my work at the Municipal Library in Prague, I organized the Visio Librum conference on VR, where experts such as Jan Horský from INFINITE, Michal Rybka, Marek Klulkovský from augg.io or Jan Hovora from QuaternAR and the founder of Bohemia Interactive spoke.

Since 2024, I am a freelancer and advisor in the field of VR for subjects such as the Prague Biennale/Re Connect Art or the Municipal Library in Hradec Králové. Thanks to my work in the VR game room Virtualnirealita.cz and the Municipal Library in Prague, I have a perfect overview and experience with most VR hardware and software. For several years now, I have been working with the pediatric oncology department at the Motol hospital, where, in cooperation with the staff, we use VR to make the stay of child patients more pleasant.
In addition to VR, I have returned to motion design, graphic design, video editing and website creation. My last project was the design of the logo, graphic manual, website, all animations and editing of all videos for the Association of Theatre studies, of which I also manage the website and YouTube channel. In the future, I would primarily like to focus on VR, especially as a game designer for the development of new VR apps and games, or in the role of a consultant dealing with complex VR projects for companies or other subjects. Although creating animations, graphic design and editing videos fulfills me, this production is my secondary focus.
